The Bible tells us that we are to always be ready for our Lord, while we will not know when this will be we can be certain that the day will come.
Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. Matthew 24:42 NIV
I often think that this applies to my own behavior throughout the day, such as am I being faithful in my thoughts and actions? If I were to meet the Lord right now would I be able to hold my head up? I like to think that when the Lord knocks at my door I will be right there as a faithful servant, with a lamp in hand, and open the door wide exclaiming “welcome home my Lord, all is ready for you”. We all have a most precious citizenship in heaven and while we eagerly await our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, we should keep watch that we don’t stumble on earthly things.
Heavenly Father, your name is above all other names, you are the true judge and the true righteous one.
Your love has no limits and your mercy is abundant.My mind and heart is on your kingdom and bringing glory and praise to your will.
Your works are amazing, beyond anything I can even express. Help me be a light that shines toward you today.
Strengthen me with your word and help me remain faithful in my thoughts and actions.
Surround my friends and family with your forgiveness today. Remind them that you are eager to forgive them. Help them let go of any guilt they cling to.
Thank you that through your Son our Lord Jesus Christ we have a most precious citizenship in heaven and help us keep watch that we don’t stumble on earthly things.
