Recently, I have sensed God’s urging to rise early (5:30 AM) to have time in His word and prayer. This has always been a challenge for me. This Sunday Pastor Johnny Hunt shared with the church that he spends time alone with God at 5:30 AM every morning. At that moment, the light bulb went on. I need this time alone with God to start the day. I believe that all of us do! Now am I saying that you should get up at exactly at 5:30 AM every morning to spend time alone with God. No! However, I am saying that all of us need a time every day that we set aside to be alone with God. Listen to what Jesus revealed in John 5:30:
By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.
Jesus literally is telling us that he (God in the flesh) needed to hear from the Father before he did anything. And without hearing from him, he could do nothing. Wow! If this is true of Jesus, how much more is this true of me? And of you? So I invite you to join me in the 5:30 Challenge. And let’s see what kind of difference this time alone with God makes in our lives.
